This story begins with a rope hammock that I have had in my back yard for a long time. One gets replaced by another when they fall apart and I often keep some rope to repair the next one to extend its life. So we put this used but fairly new hammock out that we had acquired. And a squirrel was spotted chewing on it early in the day. I thought, oh I can fix that after work. Well, by the time I was finished work the squirrel (which I normally refer to as tree rats) had come back and chewed up so much more of the hammock it was destroyed. While this tree rat is sitting pretty in a next full of hammock rope, this year there will be no hammock in the yard for us to use.
The next week we were headed out on a short camping trip and I grabbed a small weaving kit to take with me and threw in some of the rope from the hammock. Something to keep my hands busy at the campsite. Inspired by this sunrise I wove the first small weaving "Just before sunrise". This was on a foam core pin loom that I had in my weaving kit.
