Summer is for Cyanotypes. They are easy to do on a day its not going to rain. I set them out in the morning on a table in the yard and bring them in at lunch time.
The Space Cyanotypes were a challenge. How to Cyanotype Kozo paper that dissolved when immersed in water. I like this paper because it holds the color really well. The blues are so blue.
Spraying the Kozo uses less chemistry and for me is more consistent.
Silk paper for planets, string and tumeric are applied on top. Another piece of glass on top of that.
Once exposed long enough, they are returned to the studio and the top glass and objects carefully removed. Then water is gently poured on top until it runs clear but care is taken to not have the paper dissolve. Immersing it will dissolve the paper. These have dried and then are later flattened.
July 2022 I created 100 cyanotypes on this paper in a space theme which evolved as time went on. Several have been exhibited and sold. Most are 5 x 7.
